/ KITFOX
First flight of N97DE, a Kitfox
Series 5 occurred on March 14, 2007 at William B. David
Airport (CZL) in Calhoun, Georgia. The aircraft flew
flawlessly with no rigging adjustments required. I did
have a few electrical issues and high oil temp problem
but with some trouble shooting these issues have been
resolved. Construction time was 2200 hours over 9 years.
The aircraft is powered by a 912ULS. It weighed in at
833 pounds. I found the plans to be very straight
forward and with help and advice of the Kitfox e-mail
user groups I had no problems other than time to devote
to construction. Special thanks to my wife June, who
supported this project and to Maxwell Duke and Roger
Standley who gave me Kitfox taildragger time in their
planes. My EAA Technical Counselors were Vic Syracuse
and Kyle Boatright. My EAA Flight Advisor was Vic
Syracuse.
